Fondue strikes again

They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery, I will take it as a compliment therefore, that The One Show chose to feature Fondue as an open discussion point tonight with the two Masterchef judges.  Clearly they read my previous article on Fondue albeit not in sufficient detail. The thought of cooking meat in a vat of boiling oil placed on a table of ski resort combustible plastic cloths, where women and children gently cook whilst drunken men play out their 'Up Jenkins' drinking games within fireball distance, ensures my spleen is filled with bile and terror. Don't they know it should be court bouillon?  Oil?  The bloomin thing would be spitting globules of boiling fat at the nosy children as they poke their dear little faces literally within spitting distance of the oil vat.  Ye Gads... AND not one of those fondues on show (apart from the sample in the Swiss Restaurant) was the correct colour, consistency or I suspect flavour, of an excellent cheese fondue - and the bread was far too doughy.  Masterclass for the masterchefs... Rock on 1960's...

Rant over...

I'm quite desperate to find this Masterchef-judge footage. Can't find a link anywhere. More info please, Rosie! We are addicted to Masterchef and I love the idea of their stealing your post...

LOL Kristen my love.. it was a tongue in cheek approach. They were interviewed on The One show yesterday about Masterchef. However, the Indian writer and broadcaster (who I really like) from the One show, had researched the 70's lifestyle dish 'Fondue'. He travelled around the UK to find out who made the best, how it should be made and then it was presented as a dish in the studio and looked pretty vile. I siezed upon this to make my comments. MY GOD I HOPE THEY DON'T SUE.

Of course they couldn't have read my blog, given that the film footage was probably shot much earlier in the week or even the week before. I was having a pop at them for fun, but it was pure coincidence the coverage was a few days after my blog and recipe for Fondue.

If you podcast BBC One show that the two judges were on, you'll hear the piece about Fondue. It is just I am totally unaware that boiling oil was ever used.

oh, I'm so gullible! You are nice not to slate me too badly, my dear. It is clear now that anyone can sell me anything, which was already known.

But... Americans in the 1970s DID indeed fondue everything under the sun in oil!

Oh well, I suppose someone had to... clearly they carried out their fondue research over the pond then...
